IN THE face of continuing keen demand from well-heeled yankee punters, Ducati North America has mysteriously “found” a fresh batch of previously sold-out Desmosedici RR MotoGP replicas.
Since unveiling the street-legal Desmosedici to rave press reviews and then ceasing to take orders after the worldwide total hit, Ducati's much-vaunted strictly limited-edition production run buffers in double-quick time. The brand's US subsidiary has oddly continued to exhibit it - most recently at a big show in Las Vegas. And then, suddenly, hey presto! More machines have become available.
“We are fortunate to offer a few units to those interested individuals who were closed out of the initial ordering process,” says Ducati North America chief executive and expatriate English chap Michael Lock with an almost entirely straight face.
“As the global run of 1500 bikes comes to an end we are notifying interested parties that we have secured inventory to deliver in the coming months - but only if they act quickly.”
Wonder how many more they'll find lurking in a back shed in Bologna if demand continues?
