DIY biker vents frustration after council snub his parking pleas

A KENTISH biker fed up with lack of parking space in his village, stuck two fingers up at authorities last week by painting his own 'Motorcycle Only' parking space.

Sources say, the unknown motorcyclist made previous requests to West Malling parish council for more parking facilities but was snubbed time after time. Eventually the man became so fed up of getting nowhere, he got to work with aome paint and a brush and created his own parking slot on Station Road, West Malling.

The biker told Yourmaidstone website: “I pay insurance and road tax yet there is no allocated space to park a bike here, you don't have to pay for it in London, so why should I have to pay for it in West Malling - it's discriminative. It's not the same all over the Maidstone district. I can park my bike easily in the town centre, it just seems ridiculous I can't have a space in my home village. I could park on the pavement if I wanted to, but why should I make parents walk their buggies in the road when this space proves you can fit a bike here."

The brush-happy biker added: “The Government keeps on about being green and environment friendly, which I am trying to do by driving a bike, but they are not prepared to accommodate us.”

A spokesman for the local council said the biker's actions were illegal and they plan to take action to remove the paint.

Looks like Mr D.I.Y maybe be in for a brush with the law.
