| Riders for Health raises £4,465 at NEC Riders for Health the official charity of MotoGP and the FIM raised an amazing 4,465 at the International Motorcycle and Scooter Show at the NEC today [Friday 28th November].
Visitors to the show were given the chance to bid on some great items, including paddock passes, signed prints and paintings of Valentino Rossi and James Toseland, and a host of MotoGP memorabilia, in an auction on the main stage hosted by Steve Parrish.
Items signed by the stars of MotoGP were as popular as ever, with fans snapping up boots, gloves, jackets and t-shirts. The most popular MotoGP item was a replica Repsol helmet, signed by Nicky Hayden and Dani Pedrosa, selling for 300. In total MotoGP memorabilia raised an incredible 2,225.
Three lucky bidders will have something to look forward to over the winter, after picking up tickets to a trio of races in 2009. The most popular were a pair of weekend paddock passes for any MotoGP in 2009, which raised 660. The package includes a lap in the course car, so it will really be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. A pair of paddock passes for the only British round of World Superbike in 2009 at Donington Park raised 170. Pole Position Travel also donated a pair of VIP hospitality tickets to the 2009 Czech MotoGP at Brno, which sold for 550.
The auction was a great start to what will be a busy show for Riders. The team of volunteers will be running the helmet bus in the bike park, while in the main hall the team will be giving people the chance to win a brand new Ducati 848 in the annual Riders draw. Those that buy tickets will not have long to wait to find out if they have been lucky, with the grand draw being made on the last day of the show [Sunday 7th December].
