Thought that myself Rerb, Ive already flushed the tank, next is the carbs i suppose? Then they will need to be ballanced. Someone said to put the bike on its centre stand into gear and turn the back wheel to get things moving.??? Its been lying for about 3 yrs

Drop the float bowls off the carbs and clean them out, preferably with petrol. Refit them, fit new plugs, fit new battery, change oil and filter. Press the button and see what happens. If it wont start have to start digging to find out why

Basically as Matt says, I'd be tempted to strip the carbs completely.
You need a runner before you can get the carbs balanced.

If the oil looks ok, and there is no emulsion in it, on the surface of filler etc, then personally I would fire it up and warm it through (on tick over /low revs only) first, otherwise you are going to have the change the oil twice.

If the oil looks pants then I would change it, remove and drain the filter, and refit and top up with cheap oil... then run it up to temp and change the oil again with good stuff and do the filter...
