Re: Blackbird battery boiled Sorry to hear you've had probs, as we both know they're usually bullet proof. The only common probs I've heard of on the 'Bird are because some riders tend to put too much load on the electrics, with heated grips, seats and other gizmos. For the sake of a few quid, I'd just change the recrifier. Never used a Gell battery, but I'm guessing they're expensive. Sounds like ya had a lucky escape on the motorway. Before you set off on the bike again just repeat 3 times "Blackbirds never break down".

Re: Blackbird battery boiled Just checked the voltage out and it's charging at 18.5v at 2000 revs so the regulator looks very suspect. The battery seems fine though as its reading 13.4v with ignition off. I might just try replacing the regulator first to see how it goes.

Re: Blackbird battery boiled Thanks Deano but thats for using a R1 rectifier as a replacement. The one I ordered is a pattern part that I saw recommended on another forum. It was cheaper than most too. Heres the link for anyone else. Jaws Motorcycles and Motorcycle parts supplys for the Blackbird

Re: Blackbird battery boiled Yea Deano, theres quite a few Honda's that use the same part. Apparently they seem to last between 15000 and 30000 miles and mines done 21000 .One thing that I have read in loads of articles is "don't use the Honda replacement" ![]()
