Check any terminals and earths between the alternator/generator/, the rectifier and the battery for corrosion and or looseness.
Then check the charging rate again.

Re: Blackbird battery boiled

Update.....

I received the new rectifier/regulator this morning so off to the garage

It took around 10 mins to replace and another 5 mins to check all the teminals and connections again for tightness. Its looking good now, the charge readings are 14.2v @ tickover and 14.5v @ 5000 rpm. The battery might have escaped damage as it was still reading 13.2v disconnected so I will give it a couple of weeks and check it again.

A tip for Blackbird owners, you don't need to remove the seat cowling to replace it as the manual says. if you undo the first and second (luggage hook) bolts then you can prise it away from the frame and keep it open with some scrap cardboard while you undo the two screws with a small 10mm socket. You can then pull the rectifier up through the cowl and disconnect it. Replacement is just a reversal of that procedure.

Thanks Jono but its spot on now mate - I had the fluke all over it again last week. Its done a few good runs now both high speed and stuck in traffic today. If it didn't cook today it probably wont for a good while

I will pop down though for a brew one day
