Drive chain

Need a new chain for me bike. Is anyone here familiar with SSS (or Triple S) chains at all? Are they any good? Would appreciate any advice. Cheers

Re: Drive chain

The last chain I replaced was a DID kit with front and rear sprockets. Up to now its been fine, no stretch as yet. I use Wurth dry lube on it but I don't know if thats the reason, maybe its just a good chain and sprocket kit?

Re: Drive chain

Hello,
Triple S stuff ain't too bad but it's not DID, just make sure it's a good one as they do a range of chains just like DID. The original chain on you're bike will have been heavy duty O ring, I personally would fit the best possible.

Re: Drive chain

yip the best you can afford (and then borrow another tenner from the missus for an even better one) - I had a chain snap on a 750-4 many years ago, sliced through engine casings & locked the back wheel solid at 80mph, wouldn't want that to happen to anyone

Re: Drive chain

i cant comment on th SSS chains im curently using an EK heavy duty that was recommended by the guy that does my repairs,he uses the same chain and sprockets on his gsxr 1000, so it should be well up to the power produced by my 600

Re: Drive chain

Cheers guys. The chain I have in mind is a heavy-duty gold x-ring, which is still cheaper than a DID o-ring. Rerb, did you have a Triple S on your bike? How long did it last?

No, I use DID but I know a lot of people who have and non have had any real complaints (other than them not lasting as long).

Re: Drive chain

One thing to bear in mind, when replacing potential hazardous items is buy the best you can afford. Brakes, chains, tyres etc,,,,

If the DID set is only a few quid more than the SSS part then I would plump for the DID but thats more down to having good experiences with DID in the past.
