Leaky back tyre or wheel?

Once again I have a problem with my back tyre.

First I had the rim repaired as it was leaking.

Then the tyre knackered and so I got a new one.

A week later I had a huge nail in the new tyre. Got it patched and repaired. Ok for a while.

Now losing air again (from 42 psi to 15 in about a fortnight).

Tyre or wheel do you think?

The tyre is the likely suspect but you should check your pressures at least every other time you ride it Clara

I check mine every time unless its only done a few short runs then its every other time.

I do check it every other ride Dad. I just haven't been out on it as the weathers been so crap! And it's still gone down standing in the garage. What could be wrong with a new tyre though? The patch do you think?

Re: Leaky back tyre or wheel?

I would not worry about it LC, just pop it down the wheel out and nip it down your local tyre person and let them sort it out.. If you have only just had it patched etc, then if they are any good they should do it for nothing.

I must be very naughty as I only check my pressure once in a blue moon. I hope no one tells spree

I won't tell him. We can't all be as well behaved as me can we? There must be some wayward children in the family, happens everywhere.

Re: Leaky back tyre or wheel?

Sorry guys - I didn't mean to lecture. Its just that one of my best mates died a long time ago in a bike smash, the police stated that the main cause of the accident was low tyre pressure as they couldn't find anything else wrong with the bike and a witness stated that he just drifted across the road while braking for a junction.

When I saw the post I thought oh shit, sort of thing and started tapping away at the keyboard without actually thinking about it

Re: Leaky back tyre or wheel?

OK - got the guilt trip and as Im riding to Bristol (http://www.bikerforum.co.uk/forums/g...ia-dinkys.html) Ive just been out to check my tyre pressures as Ive my own compressor and flexihose on tyre inflator - wouldn't have liked to try doin it on a forecourt in full leathers with their semi-rigid hoses ..... would have been impossible
