re: How to .... clean and adjust your chain

Spot on information and pictures, all i would like to add is that you should find the tightest spot on the chain to do the adjustment, as they dont always wear evenly. Then when you have finished the job spin the wheel and check the tension at several points on the chain. If you have an excessivley tight spot it can shag gearbox/wheel bearing, or even snap

Nice one Bill / Phil, great pics too. Anyone using "Chain Wax" ? I find this better as it's not so messy and stay's on longer...

PMFJI but does a scottoiler protect your chain that much?. It would be worth the cost alone for one chain and sprockets.

re: How to .... clean and adjust your chain

Pardon me for jumping in (to the conversation)

Just got my second bike after passing my DAS and want to look after it as easily as possible. Just had new chain and sprockets fitted when it had its MOT and would like to look after them without too much trouble.

The cost of the scottoiler kit is only marginally more than the chain kit.

Re: How to .... clean and adjust your chain

My chain needs ajusting every other day, and i have not got the correct tool to loosen the wheel nut.

Why i am eating my chain so quickly, i have not even exceeded 55mph on it (because of wear in)? I am lubing it everyday, i have TURUNO too.

I am doing around 60-70miles a day on it though.

Can someone help me out here? i am baffled...?????
