50cc moped i have a honda bali sj50 moped. just fitted a new engine in and it wont start . just fitted all panels back on and tried kick start and electric start still wont start there is fuel going in and a spark all electrics are connected up and that no loose wires/cables does anyone know what it cud be ? or what we cud try? much appreciated hello just bit more about the bike its a 2 stroke and its air cooled , by fuel going through , there is fuel in the fuel filter , just a question , with the battery being flat , will the fuel pump be able to pump fuel round to the engine to allow the engine to run ? as i know the battery is flat as the electric start is slow and sluggish and sounds like like a car would , with a flat battery. the person i brought it from claims it was running when it came out of the bike. i know it has compression , but only know this by the sound of it , could it loose compression while being transported around and re-fitted into a new moped ? ignition timing , do 50cc mopeds have ignition timing , i never knew they did , how does this work ?

Re: 50cc moped You might have fuel to the fuel filter, but it might not be getting to carb.. If it has been stood or whatever then the carb will prolly need priming. Also the carb may have acquired some crap and it may benefit from a clean. As for the timing, yes there is a cdi unit which will control the ignition timing.. engine has to get a spark at just the right time.. have you done a compression test?? if not I would give it a go.. I guess you would be looking for 130-140 psi ish (but that is only a guess)

Re: 50cc moped hello no i have not done a compression test as i do not has the compression tester to do so , the CDi unit works fine as old engine ran on that cdi okay too. how would i go about cleaning the carb , there is a plastic cover in the way of the bolts to remove the carb , which i do not know how to get off , and i dont really want to take it off as will have to then replace the gasket on the carb too.

Re: 50cc moped I am not familiar with the specific model rhys sorry, but you would prolly get away with removing the carbs and reusing the gasket if you are careful not to tear it... handy temporary gaskets can be made out of weetabix boxes and the like ![]() Have to checked you are getting a spark?? remove the plug, and earth it out on the engine. spin the bike over.. is there a spark??
