FI Light flashed

On a long ride out yesterday, doing about 60 in 6th, my FI light flashed on about 3 times in 5 seconds. Each time it was as though I'd knocked the kill switch on/off. As I was moving it seemed to bump start straight away after each time. 1/2 a minute later, it did it again 2 or 3 times. I pulled up shortly after,, but all seemed well. I then rode about 80 miles home with everything as normal. I've had a look on t'internet, and advice ranges from "For gods sake don't ride, your engine will blow." "It's probably just a loose wire/corroded connection." "They do it from time to time, just ignore it." Obviously, this sounds like there could be a number of causes, I just wonder if anyone else had had this problem on a Honda? The bike's due for a service next month, and I. was just going to continue riding as normal....unless any one knows better, cheers, Carl.

Re: FI Light flashed

Not had this problem but the handbook for the CBF1000 says ".... if it comes on at any other time (i.e. not when u first turn the ignition on), reduce your speed and take the motorcycle to your Honda dealer as soon as possible"

Sorry can't be of more help

I told you not to worry about it BP, it will only happen when your trying to keep up with the Yammy, any other time it'll be fine

Actually, I've just had a thought, riding with you yesterday was the slowest my bike's ever gone.....Maybe the 'Birds engine was under so little stress that it 'fell asleep'.......Have you tried playing some music yet? There's not a tune out there that my dancing smiley can't dance to......try it.

I don't know, is yours fuel injection? It's a red warning light with "FI" on it that should go out on startup and not come on whilst riding, which mine did, hence the worry.

(What the Honda was trying to say was 'Warning Red Light' your are behind a Yammy, Don't try to pass or you will embarrass yourself, in a safe place pull up and work walk at least 100 yards away from your Blackbird, sit down and watch it self destruct with dignity)
