GPZ1000RX long shot!!! I'm sat here crying into me mug of tea having spent all day with the RX trying to nurse it back to life! Went out to it when the sun came out for 3 mins and kicked her up, did the usual high rev to get her moving and then left her ticking over while I put me gloves and lid on. Got on her and gave it some throttle to set off and she died ![]() Then she wouldn't start so I put the choke back on, (it usually only needs a tiny bit of choke), and she fired up again YAY!!!! Back on the throttle and she stalled again ![]() So I wheeled her round the back to see if I can find out what's up with her and I'm totally lost! With the choke 90% on she'll fire, she'll tick over, (though she is hunting a fair bit), but as soon as knock the choke off, (even when she's warmed up enough to kick the cooling fan in), she stalls. If I apply even a tiny amount of throttle she stalls. Would anyone have any ideas what I should be looking for? She's not flooding, (she smells of bike!), and petrol is getting through to her fine, but it's like she's flooding as soon as the throttle is touched and it's like fuel starvation when I knock the choke off. Hopefully someone will be able to point me in the right direction on this one.

Re: GPZ1000RX long shot!!! ok ive had 2 similar problems on a suzuki srad few years ago, is your air filter ok, cause when i had this similar prob my air filter was soaking wet, i took the filter out, cleaned out the air box and it ran fine, so i bought a new filter, the other time i had water in the fuel tank, on tick over it was fine but when the throttle was open the vacumm pulled the water in the float bowls, blocking the jets,

Re: GPZ1000RX long shot!!! Ahhhhhh!!!! I think you might be onto something here. I didn't shut the fuel cap properly after I fueled her up the other day and it was pissing down .... Now I'm wondering if that might be it!! Air filter is fine mate, it's brand new. But thanks for the suggestion! I'll have a look at the fuel situation and see if I have water in the tank. I'm assuming the water will seperate if I put all the fuel in a couple of demijon's?

Re: GPZ1000RX long shot!!! the water and fuel will seperate, but getting it all out of the tank is not easy, i ended up taking my tank to work and using a water vaccumm to remove it all

Re: GPZ1000RX long shot!!! I've got one of those workshop wet 'n' dry vacs and I can fit a small pipe to it. I guess I'll have to take the tank off and leave it parked up for a few days to dry out properly before I put some more fuel in it. If you're right I owe you a pint mate ![]()

Re: GPZ1000RX long shot!!! I'm hoping it's just a water problem, which should be a quick cure though expensive with the price of fuel these days, though I think I've only got about a fiver, maybe £6 left in the tank since it's on reserve and I was taking her out to fuel her up. I just can't believe I've missed something so obvious since a few years ago some wanker thought it would be funny to add water to my Jag's fuel tank and it did more or less the same thing, except it would drive only it started missing like a bitch on the high revs.
