Honda CBR 600 FY Gear Problem

right, ill try keep it simple and straight forward.

when i bought my bike, i got it cheap cos it had a fault with the gear box, when you put it in 3rd it jumps out all the time. so when im riding i go from 2nd to 4th and vice versa.

the guy who i got it off said it needs a new 3rd gear thing.

i have just got a full gearbox off ebay for my bike for £70.

now does anyone know anywhere or anyone who would fit it, as i know its a big job, involving engine out and splitting.

SORRY IM FROM STOCKTON NEAR MIDDLESBROUGH - NORTH EAST

Any help would be greatful
Ste

Ste, if no one can see where about's in the uk, someone who's in Newcastle might recommend someone there which is no good to you if your in cornwall

Put your location in your profile, this would save a lot of guessing games!

Re: Honda CBR 600 FY Gear Problem

Hello Ste,
If it was my own motor, I'd have no problem tackling the job myself, but without knowing the history of the bike I'd be reluctant to take it on for someone else. Once bitten twice shy of a bike someone had bought with a problem, which turned out to be a multitude of faults and two unhappy people. You could cut costs down by taking the engine out yourself and taking it to a repair shop, I'd be more than happy to help you with that part.
Don't know if you know about the bike shop on the Bon Lea industrial estate ?

GB Bikes & Trikes
Unit 12, Bonlea Trading Estate, Thornaby, Stockton-On-Tees, Cleveland T17 7AQ
Tel: 01642 669111

From what I've heard he's pretty good and prices are reasonable.
