mechanics/mentors having recently benefitted from Firestorm Mike's mechanical nous I thought it may be an idea for other skilled members with spare time and willing hands to make themselves known ![]() local bikeshops here are charging around £45 per hour to those of us (newbies who ain't learned about their bikes yet or sheer incompetents like meself) who can't manage even basic servicing/repairs. so, for those who (genuinely!!!) have the skills/tools/time why not offer yer services in return for additional income. obviously bikes under warranty would still require a shop service but the majority of members would save a fair few quid and also benefit from the knowlege (& peace of mind) gained watching the job being done. not consulted spree on this topic so it'd have to be approved by him, plus various caveats regarding what should and shouldn't be done on yer bike by a fellow forum member with no warranty - wouldn't want peeps falling out should things go awry ![]()

Re: mechanics/mentors the guy i used to use ,was really fair in pricing work, but the unit he was renting got too expensive and he had to work from home for a while, then the lease run out on the place he was staying and the owner wanted to sell it ,but charlie couldnt afford to buy, so he had to move again and i have now lost touch with him .. so any help i can get from here or anywhere else, that will assist in keeping my bike roadworthy is greatly appreciated![]() ..................................Sam

Re: mechanics/mentors I think its a great idea Deano but I dont want to tie the forum into any future legal implications so have a thinks as to how we can use the idea. As long as any agreement is a private one between 2 parties then it should work fine.

Re: mechanics/mentors I think this is a brilliant idea. I'm new to biking and got into through my now ex. He used to do all the minor tinkering required and I was only thinking this weekend that I will have to pay for someone to do the most basis tasks and am ripe for being ripped off
