Talking How To ..... Re-Code Remote keys

So OK, this is possibly more car related but .it may relate to some bikes......
the battery died in the remote key fob for my car and altho I replaced the battery, it wouldnt work.

Didn't want to pay mega bucks to get vauxhall to re-code it, as everywhere was saying I had to , then I came across an article that said:

make sure the key fob has a good battery in it
Put key in igntion and turn on
hold down button on the fob
wait for door locks to lock / unlock
key fob is re-coded

so thought, well nothing to lose ....... and it worked n saved me mega-bucks so just thought Id pass it on

Re: How To ..... Re-Code Remote keys

and if it's the older type of vauxhall with the 2 button remote fob, hold both buttons in and turn on the ignition. Same happened to me on my old Vectra.

I think you'll find that the majority of the bikers in here have also been driving cars for longer than you've been alive Rob so no need to get cocky!

Re: How To ..... Re-Code Remote keys

Thanks GB - I was just gonna tell him to 'fook off and learn how to maintain a bike' or something similar , but you are far more subtle and to the point

and a further point I was gonna make is - sometimes manufactureres / dealers want to make out the only people that can fix things - be it remote keys for cars or maybe alarms or alternators for bikes - are themselves for megabucks, but by sharing such information and with a bit of lateral thinking, we can do it ourselves and save a lot of money
