im getting a grinding noise when driving in the front end of my bike which is a (daelim vs125) hope someones heard of it

anyway am not sure where its coming from, could be clutch area, my gears do clunk tho

looking on forums could be front brake, cant check at mo as 2am lol

is it hard to open up clutch area where plates are? need greasing? need changing?

Hi steve, welcome to the forum.. maybe you'd like to say hi in the new members area too.

If it is at the front end..ie the front wheel/forks then it is either worn out brake pads or a dodgy wheel bearing... both are easy enough repairs...
to check the pads simply look to see if there is any meat between the caliper and the disk..or pop a pad out. To check a wheel bearing out the bike on the centre stand and get a big mate to sit on the back so the front wheel is in the air. Then place one hand on the top of the wheel and one on the bottom and try to wobble the wheel.. there should be NO movement.. any movement indicates a knackered bearing.

The clutch is not "front end", but rather pretty much below you ie part of the engine.. Normally as they wear they do not make such a niose.

A simple clutch check is to run along say in second up a hill at 15 mph then open the throttle fully... if the clutch is on it's way out the revs will rise quickly and the speed only rise slowly. This is known as clutch slip, and can be adjusted out at first, but is a sure sign your clutch is getting a bit second hand

HTH

Re: grinding noise :(

hello steven, i think jonnywombat has it covered, welcome to the forum. and a haynes manual would be a great addition to your bike, if you can get one, even if your not brilliant mechanically(like me)the book can still be lots of help

Re: grinding noise :(

hi, thanks for your replies

i thought wouldnt be clutch cause had full clutch change about 3months ago,

i will check the brake pads etc and will post results

centre stand is my problem, lol, its stuck, cause when i had clutch change they decided to de restrict the bike and took exhaust off and when putting exhaust back on they forgot to make sure centre stand was useable, so cant use it until i get a socket set??? tried undoing the bolt to loosen the exhaust but too tight lol

anyway thanks again will post results soon

Re: grinding noise :(

update,

all running fine now

didnt know what to do wit brakes so left them, got my centre stand back to normal so placed bike on centre stand, started bike changed some gears, realised chain was very slack and kept jumping.

so search forum and found the thread about cleaning and chain adjustment.

did that, all running smooth, no noise anymore, even getting more speed

thanks guys
