What do you do?

Hi Guys, as i'm getting to know you all a bit more - i thought i'd ask the question about what you folks do for a living.

Well - what do you do to keep the wolf from the door?

To start the ball rolling ...

I'm an IT Manager (ZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzz ) for a plastics company in Leicester.

The only interesting (bike related) thing we do is make Harris Nylon Crash protectors for bikes (mainly Yamaha).

Honda CBR 600RR and proud!!

Re: What do you do?

Children's community nurse. Tell you what's interesting (to me anyway)... some of the kids I work with don't like talking to anyone coz they think we're all middle aged professional farts who don't give a s**t and they've been talked to by everyone from social workers to psychiatrists. It's amazing how much differently they see you when you pull up on a bike (only on sunny days mind you)
Some of the most difficult to engage kids have talked to me simply because the bike takes away the barriers. There's research to be done into that I think!
Anyway I'm being boring now so I'll shut up....don't think it'll last much longer coz my boss is a bit twitchy about the uniform policy. Apparently bike boots and a helmet don't fit into the 'smart casual' category! Good old NHS.

Re: What do you do?

Biomedical Scientist Specialist for the National Blood Service in Manchester. I do blood grouping and microbiology testing (HIV, Hepatitis, Syphillis) for all blood donations in the North West from as far apart as Barrow-in-Furness to Anglesey! Love my job except for the ever-increasing amount of paperwork involved

Re: What do you do?

Was in engineering and finished up as a robotics engineer, left that and retrained as a Financial Advisor, moved up to stockbroker, moved to Mortgage Broker then into house sales and part time valuer for an estate agent.

Doing nothing now due to a bout of ill health since last December but should be fit for work in a couple of months then I am looking to get into the bike industry working in sales of some sort.

Have a small web design company that keeps me in petrol money

Re: What do you do?

First job from school was a dental nurse, then some shop work and waitressing in a night club, then Registered General nurse in the NHS and then the private sector for more years than I care to remember ............ got my teaching ticket and moved over into the lecturing side 6 years ago, currently work in the workforce development school of a large FE & HE college as a lecturer, assessor and verifier in Health & Social Care

but in reality ............. I'm a retired lap / pole dancer who's made her millions

'Veni, Vidi, Velcro' - I came, I saw, I stuck around .................. 'borrowed' from eBay

Re: What do you do?

About a year ago I returned to Vehicle recovery, the moneys not great and there's not many openings for promotion but I'm happy. I went into an office for a year recruiting security and courier drivers, the money was better and so were the prospects but I hated every minute of it.

I guess there must be a reason most of my jobs have been behind the wheel.

and ... thats how we met .... I used to work in manchester centre and Maccymoo used to come out into the corridor every night and watch me rolling round on the floor trying to get into my leathers so working for the NHS DOES have some advantages

and shes the brainy scientist type one who reads over my shoulder n corrects all my spelling mistakes before I post this, so any mistakes are her fault
