| 3rd world operating system I am not going to start a Ubuntu evangelism thread, but I thought in answer to sprees third world quip I would show you wot your missing... | Re: 3rd world operating system Ermmm my view on Ubuntu. It's getting better, loads better than the older distro's and once set up it's nearly as user friendly as windows. But it's not ready for the ordinary user at the moment (My view sorry Jonny). You still need quite a bit of command line knowledge to set the thing up (new devices etc). On the up side it's free and constantly being updated, probably more so than the current Windows operating systems. It's also less likely to be hit with viruses, malware which is the bane of windows users in this day and age. My advise if you are going to take the plunge and try Ubuntu is make sure you know someone with a good understanding of it who is willing to help you lots. |
