Whats a Lifter Screen?

Some thing that apparently needs cleaning when you change oil, but what is it?


Some time's my mind doesn't only wander, it leaves completely ...........

i have no idea what it is.last time i changed my oil all i did was drain the old stuff,refit the sump plug replace the filter and refill with new oil

I think you mean the mesh filter that comes with certain small bikes instead of a removable oil filter, a lot of small Honda's have this type of replace-able gauze.
Never heard it called that before mind (If it is that).

I think you mean filter screen. Some bikes have a metal mesh filter that need cleaning at the same time you change the paper oil filter. (The location varies.)

I did actually mean 'Lifter screen' as that was the term used by my non UK friend.

So my non Uk friend explains it like this "V-twin Harley Motors Have Them As Well As S&S And The Other Name Brand V-twins It Is A Filter To Screen Anything From Getting To The Lifters. It Is Right Where The Yellow Dot Is In The Picture It Look Like A Little Funnel."
