Routes and Ride out for new bikers Evening all Getting close to my test now and despite this and not having brought my bike I am wondering if anyone knows of good new biker/return to biking routes or ride outs? I am near the Nottingham/Lincolnshire border and (test permitting) I will want to get on the road, it would be good to meet up with riders of similar skills etc and share in the social side of biking whilst getting some miles and confidence clocked up. any thoughts and suggestions welcome. Richard

Re: Routes and Ride out for new bikers That I will do, I went to Knockinaam Lodge Nr Portpatrick for new years a few years back as a big treat, the scenery was stunning on the journey. I remember thinking at the time, I MUST DO MY BIKE TEST! 2 Weeks and counting!

Re: Routes and Ride out for new bikers I can't suggest any roads near your end of the country - I've only been there once or twice but I would suggest that you try to tag along with some experienced (sane) riders for a rideout or two. At the end of the day though just take it steady and you will find your own style of riding soon enough ![]()

Re: Routes and Ride out for new bikers One other thing Richard, we are planning our first meet in the near future and unless someone comes up with an alternative it looks like we are going to the Borders if you fancy it ![]()

Re: Routes and Ride out for new bikers If your anywhere near Newark? you have 'a shed load' of good roads on your doorstep. There are quite a few meets a good ride from you too. When you've got your 'wheels' Try the A620 Gainsborough to Retford- A638 from Retford to Bawtry- A631 Bawtry to Gainsborough. Nice 30ish mile loop with a bit of everything. Then theres the A6075!! If you get chance the section between Tuxford and Ollerton, will put a smile on ya face!! Saxon

Re: Routes and Ride out for new bikers Try coming across country via the A52 (careful now!) Then you can take the run from Nottingham to Matlock or Buxton (peak district). These roads are bendy as hell and real good fun.
