Well I visited the centre where I'll be learning today (Brackley Yamaha) and tried a few things on etc. The first think I'll say is that everything is a tight fit, especially for me. I'm big-ish... it's the beer you see! So 3XL leather trousers fitted me, but just

Didn't ask for any help, but I even tried a helmet that was XL and that was really tight around my jaw. Think that just depends on teh brand though.

Saw a nice Jacket, but it was £250 That's a bit much. I really liked it so I may stretch to it but I'll have to find some bargains to make up for it!

It's got to be the best thing i've done in ages. I do a 60 mile commute every day - and driving cars is sucking the life out of me!!

A year ago i took up biking - never ridden one before - hated them in fact. Now i love them to bits.

As a newb i trusted Hein Gerike as a bike shop for clothes and helmets. However since then i've developed a rapport with my local bike shop (Home Page) in Nottingham, and they are better on prices and advice than HG.

If you want to look the biz then AlpineStars is the kit to have - but it is VERY expensive. I have AGV helmet and RST or Frank Thomas gear which is a bit cheaper!

I got some carbon fibre gloves off ebay (colins), they were 2nd hand (previous owner was female), and they fitted me perfectly. Only paid £8.50 or something for them last year, and they were the best buy which i have ever had off ebay.

I went there a couple of years ago. Near the end of the day, those magic words "All helmets now £20, all gloves a tenner". Mainly crap sizes, but got some mega bargains!!!
