Question Standard Motorcycle 'A' Test and 'A2'

A serious question

We know about the different bikes ridden in these test so that is not the question!

So the question is, do you have to ride the exact same test run and do the exact same maneuvers for the 'A' and the 'A2' ?

This is not very clear in anything that I've read so far.

Found this link on Google:

Get Bike (Compulsory Basic Training in London): Frequently Asked Questions

You have to scroll down to the bottom, but it might be worth taking the time to read the questions anyway....

From what they're saying it seems there's no difference at all except that the examiner might be a little more picky at fault finding!

say "cheese"

just a bit further down

Q: I've heard of DAS, A2 and A1 motorcycle tests. What are the differences between these tests?

A: In essence nothing. You could argue that for DAS tests the examiner would be a little more picky when they know that you could be going out and riding a Fireblade when you pass. The type of licence you get is simply dictated by the type of bike upon which you take your test.

Cheer's Maccy ........... what a larker!!

Re: Standard Motorcycle 'A' Test and 'A2'

I spoke to a guy at a training centre about this (and to ask what my options were) and he basically said:
The test is the same for both types but the examiner would be more picky/strict for the full licence - would the examiner want someone with bad bike control riding round on a Hayabusa on the streets where his/her kids are playing?

I think DAS is just an intensive course to train you in preparation for a test (whether thats the A1 or A2 test) and the only variable is what age you are (under/over 21) when you take the test.

Re: Standard Motorcycle 'A' Test and 'A2'

I've just downloaded the 20 possible test routes in Leeds. Got a bit of driving to do to get to know them before I take a test.
Have just booked my theory test too. Its in about 3 weeks so plenty of time to practice.

Theory is not to bad, it's still multiple choice. Have a look at this site, it's got Free trial access to the DVLA theory and hazzard perception test questions.
