| Motorcycle breakdown cover I hope to make a few trips soon to see family etc, round trips of a about 150 miles, and I must admit if I broke down on my bike I would not know who to phone… I have just had a quick look online for motorcycle breakdown cover and there are products out there but I know nothing of the companies and the price seemed expensive compared with their 4 wheeled cousins. £130 If anyone knows of reputable companies/products I would welcome a point in the right direction. | Re: Motorcycle breakdown cover I use the RAC Richard and because I'm insured with Carole Nash I am covered with that too, including Europe. The reason I have the RAC is because if you have an accident they will recover the bike for you. The AA (who I was with previously) won't recover the bike following an accident unless you are insured with them ![]() |

| Re: Motorcycle breakdown cover Thanks for the speedy replies, I was labouring under the assumption that it would need to be seperate from car brakdown cover. This is not the case which is good news. I will however be checking the level of cover with the AA who I am currently with, I may change depending on there answers. Cheers ADDITION The cover I have with the AA (Via my bank!) is fine, they were non commital on accident recovery but did say 'They would not refuse service in those circumstances' Last edited by Shamblatron : 05-09-2008 at 02:59 PM. | Re: Motorcycle breakdown cover Nowt like customer service! I am happy that for now I am covered in a breakdown situation, If I had thought about this before getting my insurance I would have made some different choices! This forum truly has been great for getting answers, and quick too! ![]() Sham |

| Re: Motorcycle breakdown cover Insure your bike with Carol Nash next time and recovery is included. Just had renewal for my 2bikes with CN £130 fully comp. with breakdown, recovery, and £50,000 legal. That £130 is total for both bikes. |

| Re: Motorcycle breakdown cover I used to have full AA breakdown cover, it was expensive but worth it. They are the ONLY breakdown people to have specifically trained motorbike mechanics with specific vehicles for bike recovery (so they told me last time I used them). I did use them a lot and was always fixed at the side of the road. I am now with Carol Nash and have had to use them just once. The guy didn't have a clue, I was telling him what to look for but he didn't even have much in the way of tools. The bike was recovered on the back on a huge 7.5 tonne flatbed. It was my CBR, if it would've been the MV there's no way I would've put it on that. Funnily enough, it's only ever been the Honda that's broke down (not the Italian boy, mmmm, strange). Anyway the best advice I can give you is to get shacked up with a mechanic... it's saved me a fortune so far... |
