heya peeps has anyone got any tips or tricks to help me get through my bike test (practical)

just treat it like another lesson, your instructor should have given you a few mock tests by now so if you just treat it like that you will be fine, the main key is not to get flustered, if you make a mistake then just forget about and concentrate on your riding.

+1 to this. I thought I failed, due to attempting to overtake a stationary bus, which decided to indicate and pull away just as I went for it, luckily I noticed and stopped before I was knocked off but in the end I passed, and the examiner didn't even mention it.

It's just a ride...

Try not to focus on it being a test, you'll be nervous enough as it is. Try to relax a bit, think about what you're doing and enjoy yourself.

no point in us listing off all the basic drills you have to remember. Only advice is be smooth and calm. Don't rush anything.

relax ,ride just like a normal ride remembering your obsevations and lifesavers . if there any bus lanes available in your test make sure its ok before you go down it , some bus lanes are available at certain times and if you fail to use then will fail for not making proper progress

just a bit worried cos my old man failed because he didnt pull out in front of a car that flashed its lights

If someone flashes you to proceed do so, but only after carrying out your own observations. Do NOT rely on the other person. The decision to move is yours and yours alone.

If you ignore the flash and don't move, you create a stalemate. He is waiting for you to go and ends up not sure what you're doing. You sit there waiting for him to go, and you both end up impeding other traffic, which for you taking a test is a fail.

Don't forget tho, if the examiner was to ask you about it - make sure you let him know that you know what headlight flashes are for - to inform another road user of your presence when a peep of the horn isn't applicable - seems that most road users forget this once they get their license!!

When I was learning I was taught to ignore flashes and friendly hand gestures.
