| oiling the chain I'm a newcomer with my first bike a 125 (doing test in July) and am just learning about maintenance. What's the best lube to use on my chain? I've raced mountain bikes for years and there are loads of different lubes out there. If its the same for beasts with an engine I'd welcome any advice. Also can a scottoiler be fitted to a Honda XL125V? (04 model) Thanks for any help guys, and you're all a friendly bunch - I get nods from other bikers all the time despite the L plates! Cheers. | Re: oiling the chain Hi Adrian and welcome to the biker forum mate. Best chain lube? well that depends on what type of chain/seals you have on the bike. I use Wurth dry chain lube but I am not sure if its suitable for all chains (I just know its fine with mine). Castrol chain wax might be a good bet for yours, no fling or mess and doesn't pick up much crud. |

| Re: oiling the chain I use a clear wax, so I can show off the pretty gold sides of my chain ![]() But it is easy coz it doesn't make the wheel dirty either.. You just have to remember to put it on after a ride and not before, so the chain is hot and the wax can penetrate the links fully. HTH Jonny |

| Re: oiling the chain I fitted a LOOBMAN system to the only chain drive motorcycle my wife and I have.(600 Yamaha) The LOOBMAN is as cheap as chips, a tad fiddly to assemble and fit, but I have not had to adjust the chain on the bike in 8000miles. |
