U Turn!

Hey Guys

I am doing a course at the minute, have done two days and am doing another two days after the weekend.

I have not got a grip of the U Turn, I mean when I do it, I do it really well, but they are few and far between, Like out of about 10 I can do 2, which is pretty naff really. HAHA.

Any advice would be muchly appreciated.

Thanks
xxx

the bike will go in the direction you look,so you have to look where you want to go,that may sound a bit daft but looking at the front wheel or the kerb will result in disaster,,how i did it was to keep the bike at 3500 rpm and slip the clutch, then controlled the speed of the bike using the rear brake.

Thats the best bit of advice and the most difficult to master, just take your time and practice - easy peasy

HAHA Easy Peasy, yeah right!

When I get it right it is good, but when it goes wrong well LOL, and I get it wrong more than I get it right. I gotta practise the looking where I am going, but it is well hard not to look back at the kerb frrrrrr, the instructor said that the U turn is making the DSA loads of money cause people fail on them all the time, which didn't help LOL.

Thanks for your advice guys, much appreciated. will go put it into practise.

Re: U Turn!

your U-turn shouldn't be a problem.... when you go to take off, do your lifesaver, look forward for oncomming traffic, then just stare at where you want the bike to end up. should be just across the road from you, and do it nice and slow, so you need to practice going slow, and dont use your front brake at all, just take your hand off the lever, so the temptation isn't even there... just feather the clutch as to keep yourself moving...

and remember these 3 words...

careful

easy

gently!!!!

Re: U Turn!

Anyone done a U turn since their test? My Blackbird needs 3 lanes for one of those

Re: U Turn!

Doing the U turn is more of a confidence thing than ability. Once you have managed to do it a few times, it becomes almost natural. Its just the first few times when you get it wrong that makes you think you can't do it.
