Use of indicators

Hello,

I have a question regarding use of indicators. Do I need to indicate when passing a parked car or stopped bus etc? Will I get penalised in my test for using my indicators in this situation?
Thanks,
Tom

Re: Use of indicators

Hi - As far as I know on your test you have to indicate anyway when passing a stoppoed bus, but not a parked car

Re: Use of indicators

if there is other traffic about use the indicator to inform the others that you are changing position as soon as you have moved, cancell the indicator,if the road is empty, dont use the indicator, thats what i remember from my DAS, but someone who has done it more recently will probably contradict me

Re: Use of indicators

The wisest thing to do is always signal if you are about to change your existing position on the road to avoid an obstruction, even if you aren't going to cross the white line. Also, very importantly on the test, mirror, indicate, lifesaver check then pull out. Forget your lifesaver, forget passing your test I was told. Also on the test, make sure you move your head every time you check your mirrors rather than just your eyes, so the examiner knows you've done it.

Sam your correct the way I was taught was not to indicate to overtake parked cars but do a head check when moving out and also a quick look to the left when pulling back in especially after a bus incase of pedestrians walking out in front of the bus I just did my test and was absolutely soooooooooo lucky I never encountered any idiots jumping out in front of me round town
