Hi Folks, I am new to biking (of the motor kind anyway).... I did my CBT about 5 weeks ago (before jetting of on Hols), on my return I bought a brand new Yamaha YBR 125 for commuting from my home (Rosyth) to Edinburgh.........(across the Forth Road Bridge). I have to say, I love the 125 as it is a nice bike for commuting and cheap to run, however, it is REALLY bad with uphills and headwinds, so, I have my DAS course and test booked for the end of Oct, start of Nov. I am now looking to get a 600 / 650cc on passing my test (fingers crossed) and am after some advice on what to go for. I was looking at all-rounders and quite liked the New Yamaha FZ6 Fazer S2 / ABS, or the Suzuki Bandit 650 SA or such like. The reason for looking for a more upright ride is that I am 6 foot tall and suffered a car accident a year ago and have trouble with my back neck and shoulders, my back is okay if straight but does not like the bottom of it being bend / stretched. Anywayz.......sorry for the REALLY long post, all help and advice greatly appreciated ? Cheers very much in advance.

Hello Andy and welcome to the forums m8 ![]() Not bad choices, to add to that you could try the ER6 or there are one or two trailies that would fit the bill. I would also try an older CBR600 out as they aint too bad for position.

hello andy.you could also try a seat on a thundercat as they have a quite upright seating position, but any of the bikes you mentioned should fit the bill or as spree suggests the er6 or a Kawasaki z750..and welcome to the forum .....................Sam

Cheers for the advice folks!!! I have to say though, it is getting VERY frustrating..........I cannae get out there and try any of the bikes until I get my full license (and have to wait til at least beginning of November - thats if I pass) .I could however put my bum on them all and see what they feel to sit on , and then get the salesman to fire them up ..........but that will just make me feel worse ......fired up and nowhere to go .....LOLAnyways, not too long to go......... As for the fighting it out with Sam for the maddest Scotsman title.......Sam would win just now (since the car accident I have been told to give up Karate and Kick Boxing ![]() ![]() ), it would be funny though, You Tube here we come ![]()

Re: Advice on 600 / 650 cc ? Fazer or Bandit 2 good choices, however not the new FZ6, go for the older model with the Thundercat derived engine, the new one is not a patch on the old as a first bike, the engine and brakes are far better and offer much more linear performance which makes it a much easier bike to ride well.
