second post down and get a quote for the bike you picked.

Too much then do it again with another bike until you find one you can afford to buy and afford to insure.

Thanks guys, it was actually how old the bike was (I was looking at 7 year old bikes!) but looking at 1990 - 1995 bikes, 600cc I'm now getting quotes for about £450 (TP F&T) which is great!!

I'm goign to do it, book my theory for next week and book a DAS for mid-July, then get a bike!

Only problem is I think I've managed to sell my car, so that's a month with no transport except public, oh dear!!!

Again, thank you ALL for your help and advice :-) I'm now looking at a 1995 Honda CBR600F for £1295, I reckon I can get it for £1200!

There's no point buying it until I pass my test I guess, as I can't ride it, even with L plates, right?? :-(
