Re: Mid-life Crisis? Hya Slap, welcome to the biker forum. Sorry I missed this post but better late than never eh ![]() The CBR is a good choice and a great all rounder. This bike will do most things but at the end of the day I would keep an open mind and try a few others if possible.

Re: Mid-life Crisis? At the risk of turning this thread into an 'oldies' competition, I'm 52 and did my CBT a few weeks ago just to see what it was like (never been on a bike before). I really enjoyed it and after talking to the instructors I decided to take it further. I've since passed my theory and have my DAS and test booked for Sept and looking forward to it. I'm waiting to see what a 500 is like on the DAS before getting a bike of my own. I am curious though as to why most people seem to talk about getting a 500+ bike as their first bike - why not a 250? Regards Catcher

Re: Mid-life Crisis? New to biking? 45? CBT and DAS in same week? Blimey...! I'm two years younger; did my CBT couple of months ago with intention of following through with DAS etc. Quickly realised that I'm simply not a natural and needed LOTS of practice. So got a Varadero 125 and am absolutely LOVING it. Will progress to DAS and test later this year. Good luck! Wish I was a brave/talented as you...!

Re: Mid-life Crisis? Gosh, i feel so flipping young now at 29. Never ridden before but wanted to for a long time. Nice to see the comments about the CBR being a good all rounder to start on, that's what i was considering, but like above, i'd be interested to have a go on the 500s on a DAS before i get one for sure

Re: Mid-life Crisis? Just take your time and try not to let the natural confidence which comes with middle age make you think that you are great rider when you get your bike. When other bikes go flying past you and turn at impossible angles - don't let it influence you. A guy who works for our Company bought his first big bike two week-ends ago (a Ducati I think) and wound up dead the following week-end after failing to negotiate a left hand bend and speed and had a head on. Enjoy the great freedom of two wheels but just temper your exuberence and confidence and most of all enjoy yourself. Best of luck to you

Re: Mid-life Crisis? Don't worry about midlife crisis Slap, it's all in your head. You can remain young as long as you want. All you need is to keep an open mind and the time has no power on you
