Re: Noobie question about starting a bike...

not sure about this thread, someone taking the pis*? good luck and remember learn to walk before running, as for looking stupid, ive been riding for years but with my bike if the stand is down it will still start but as you release the clutch in first gear it dies, so you cant pull away with the stand down, i still keep doing it, did it twice on snetterton circuit on monday lol

Re: Noobie question about starting a bike...

didnt really think it was it just seemed strange, i started riding from a young age, so when it come to riding legally on the road it was second nature, i rode a motorbike before i rode a pushbike

Either its magic pixies or................. when the level of the petrol in your tank reaches the petrol nozzle the delivery is automatically cut!

I prefer the pixie theory

Re: Noobie question about starting a bike...

No piss take unfortunatley Indie! I had just never even touched a motorbike until 2 months ago, let alone know anything about them!

I'm walking before I'm running (ask the cars who are overtaking me while I'm doing 50mph down country lanes because it's rainign and I'm nervous!!) and just taking everything in my stride!

I had such a stupid STUPID moment earlier, I got on the bike after meeting a friend for coffee, trying to look cool and ride off, but it wouldn't start :O must have sat there for 5 - 10 mins, until I realised I had left it in 1st (for good practice) so all I needed to do was pull the cluth in or knock it in neutral :P to say I felt stupid was an understatement! she knew nothing abuot bikes so I told her some crap about the cogs and brakes not meshing together right, and she didn't understand, which was the desired effect :P

Someoen at the petrol station was impressed with my bike and loved the fact that it was a 125 but doesn't look like one, and he asked to sit on it. I let him but didn't feel comfortable doing it (made sure they keys were in my hand) - do any of you usually get this? or was it just a random guy????
