Noobie question about starting a bike... Hi all! Having only ever done my CBT and getting my first bike today, I don't want to look like a moron riding away on my bike...my concern being I've forgotton how to start it (don't laugh! this proves that some questions REALLY are stupid questions!!) I know turn the key, then was it the ignition switch by my brake leaver? I didn't want ot ask this, but would rather make an idiot of myself here rather than on the forecourt with my brand new bike :P Andy

Re: Noobie question about starting a bike... Don't worry, we were all new once.. Yeah the starter button is on the right switchgear, normally in such a position that it can be hit with your thumb.. Also make sure the kill switch is in the run position, this will be the red switch on to of the right hand switch gear.. Enjoy So when and where you picking your bike up?

Re: Noobie question about starting a bike... And I once sat in a pertrol station for ages wondering why mine wouldn't start even though I had the clutch in (it was in gear but will start with clutch in). Eventually realised that even with clutch in, it won't start in gear with the stand down Doh! ![]()

Lol, I did NOT know that baout the stand down, I just thought "well you wont be able to ride off" but not that it wont start up at all!! thanks for saving me from making an idiot out of myself there... :P Filling up at a petrol station, is it easiest to just sit on the bike? or do you lot tend to get off, put the stand down and then fill it up that way? Did you have a queue behind you Clara? :-) Andy |

Re: Noobie question about starting a bike... Fill up either way, but be careful if you sit on to fill up or you'll end up with nads like Sam! Squeeze gently! The nozzle I mean ![]()
