Re: car driver considering jumping

As the above advice - I'd go for CBT. And don't worry about who else is on the course with you - they are prob just as apprehensive as you are. And don't worry about dropping the bike - its almost expected on your CBT (I dropped it once but no-one saw so I don't think it counts)
If you've still not decided if biking is for you after CBT ask the training company if they do road ride/refresher days where you just got out with an instructor on a 125 for the day. I did that as a refresher on the first day of my DAS and found it really useful.
Good luck with whatever you decide to do .

Re: car driver considering jumping

Hi Andrew (great name by the way!!)

As everyone else has said, go ahead and do your CBT, even if you are undecided after that (as I was) you can then still ride a 125 for 2 years without spending any extra cash except kitting yourself out with some gear! a 125 will be faster 0 - 40 than any car you have been in most likely anyway, or at least matching it!

On the actual CBT it's a great day, you learn about bikes and everything, chances are people will be a similar age or indeed older than you as there are a lot of 'born again' riders around at the moment!

Re: insurance quotes, just go to google and type in 'bike insurance comparrison' and then just click on the first one there. I was in the same boat as you, never been around a bike before let alone on one, so starting from scratch. I am 23, and have had quotes for a '04 CBR 600F for just £480 - compared to quotes of £2500 I had before this, it's nice!

Good luck, welcome and enjoy the forums! we are all friendly here and wont bite (unless you ask!)

Andy
