Out in the 60mph roads

Went out a wee run to try out the 60mph roads last night as I'd never been them before.

I couldn't really go above 50mph cos I was shitting myself haha, felt as it the front end was going to come up and that I was going to blow off as it was so windy at that speed. Am I doing something wrong, do I need to tuck myself in and lean right forward or something?

Felt quite unsteady as well as if i wasnt going quite straight?!?!?

The wind is something that you will get used to given time, wait till you ride a bigger bike with a fairing for the first time whilst windy

Re: Out in the 60mph roads

It does take some getting used too riding in strong winds.

However the front end shouldn't feel as if it's going to come up at 50mph on a 125.

You do need to tuck in, as you need to present a small aerodynamic profile as possible.

Honda CBR 600RR and proud!!

Re: Out in the 60mph roads

Sounds like your having fun out there, I have been getting used to passing lorries on the short strech of the A1 I can't really miss when heading home, you seem to get sucked in to the left a tad when passing the cab of the lorry.

Got it now tho

Re: Out in the 60mph roads

I just hit my 600 miles on all sorts of roads still kinda scared of motorways but I hit a couple of tons yesterday and don't feel so crap on the corners or bends and the wind isn't a problem anymore like it was when I first passed still got the grin on my face

Oh the memories....I remember my instuctor telling me to get up to 60 and I thought he was crazy! I promise after a few times it'll feel like second nature and you'll wonder why you were worried.

Like LC says, it probably just feels new/different at present, but you'll soon get used to it. Have fun!
