Hi Chilli

As far as Im aware you can carry a passanger as soon as you have passed your full test ..... but I would advise waiting until you feel confisent enough to do it! But Im sure lots of other people will be along soon to tell you the latest laws !

Im so sorry ... I think you've mistaken me for somebody who gives a F%^K

Don't know about that, but check your insurance. Every quote and both policies I have had for the last couple of years have asked me if I wanted to include pillion cover.

Hi Chilli,

Yes.

When you pass your big bike test (Cat A Licence), you can carry a pillion. You will get a pillion question at the end of your test.

I would imagine it would effect your insurance, if your a new rider though.

Good Luck

I dunno about this, it's made no difference at all to my insurance quotes if I carry a pillion or not. But then I have been through the test 23 years

If at first you don't succeed buy a snipers rifle, hire a clown suit and climb a clock tower

Your not riding as a learner though Andy, chilli is and when you get quotes as a learner you have to say no when asked if you carrying pillions, as breaking the law invalidates any insurance policy.

So pillions arn't covered by 'learners' policy as they have said 'no' to pillions. So the insurance needs to be informed of a passed test to include carrying pillions on the policy.

You know what the buggers are like, whack in a claim and they turn round and say the policy's void because you carried a pillion!

Agree with Bill.

I have declined to get insured to carry a pillion, as I only passed my test a few weeks ago. And would rather concentrate on my own riding, and build up confidence, before carrying a pillion.

Re: can i carry a passenger?

one of our guys who passed his test last week was told by his insurance company that as he has just passed his test to add pillion cover to his insurance, as in the event of an accident, if he doesn't have this his insurance will be void if he caused the accident as he's just passed his test ( lack of experience ect) haven't had time to find out if it true or not or if his insurance company is after more money... worth asking your insurance at time of buying, just incase.... will keep you updated if this is the general rule or not.
