Hazard Perception - Bad.

Hi,

I am having trouble.

I did theory today.

Got 46/50 on theory test
Got 37 on hazard perception

I practiced hazard perception clips for over a week and i have not improved. I am basically "genetically slow" which makes it hard for me to react quick enough.

It is very very frustrating and i fear i will never pass.

Is there anything i can do to improve it?

The hazard perception is completely different to real life. (Well i think it is.)

When some car drivers have pulled out on you a few times its amazing how much better it becomes mate

Seriously, is there not some online test to practice on, or at least a DVD you can get hold of

I read that smoking weed destroys your brain cells - so I gave up reading

Don't worry dude, simply try to get your own system going for the clips. Like double or triple clicking for a hazard. Just try all kinds of ways until you are passing.

Re: Hazard Perception - Bad.

if you practice enough you will see all the clips, then its just a case of pre-empting the hazards!....might be true might not but at the end of the day practice really is the simple honest key, keep at it fella and dont give up

Re: Hazard Perception - Bad.

Get the Driving Test success Hazard Perception Product - any recent year will do.

The video quality in them is rubbish, too low resolution and low bitrate, macroblocky as can be. Is that a cyclist or a pedestrain? No its a postbox, or a side of a house in the distance (seriously)

Practice and review the clips and do as many of the "mock exams" and you'll get the hang of it. You see something off in the distance that's a hazard - click, then click again, def a hazard? click again. This prevents the "too early syndrome".

I was getting 64/75 easily, mostly 4s and 5s on the practice, occasionally I'd get an "X" zero clip.

On the real deal I only got 53/75, but I clicked far more conservatively than at practice, especially after I got a "X - unacceptable" zero marked clip early on.
