First bike?

Hi all
I'm going to be attempting my CBT in a couple of months,

Wondering, What would do as a first 50cc bike?
I'm looking for something not too expensive,
But easy to get hold of.

Thanks!
Will.

Re: First bike?

Peugeot Speedfight 2.

Avoid old Aprilia as they are overrated and expensive.

Re: First bike?

TBH, I would wait until your 17 and get a 125. I have been looking for one for my lad and have come to the conclusion - do not buy a secondhand 50cc 2 stroke. After all most have been owned by a complete beginner and unlikely to have been looked after right.

Re: First bike?

Suzuki TS 50 is a geared motorcross road legal bike. They are not very reliable tbh, but at least it won't blow up like a aprilia rs 50. If i were you wait and get a 125 or get a speedfight 2, you can pick up a half decent speedfight for about £300 and if derestricted correctly will be good for 55mph-60mph, and they will be as fast as an brand new aprilia sr 50 di-tech (drag race between 2, a £1900 bike vs a £300 one, and the speedfight won....)

My mates aprilia rs 50 has had 4 new cylinder heads..

And the Japanese suzuki ts 50 had 2 new cylinder heads.

My mates speedfight however has had no problems - except it has a pink front panel...which looks a bit gay.

Re: First bike?

I've been looking at a couple of bikes,
Here they are..

Hyper Motos:: Kinroad 50cc XT50 Sports Bike price includes delivery

I've heard some bad things about the kinroad XT50 tho..

Re: First bike?

Kinrod are reliable (they are a 4stroke chinese import, but they are reliable), but they rust a lot (WD40 a must!), and have a top speed of 33-35mph. Look out for fuel leaks and fuel problems as this is the only other issue which he had (lets just say it stunk of petrol near his bike).

I spoke to a Kinrod owner, he had a Cruiser one, he said "Because it was an import, insurance was over a grand".

Minibikes are outright dangerous and although i shouldn't admit it, i had a near miss with one on my scooter.

I have never heard of or know any1 with an ape, so i couldn't comment on reliability i am afraid.
