Picking up my CBR600RR Friday!!! Hi Folks, Its only a 20 mile journey, but is it normal, that I am crapping myself at the thought of picking up my new bike (CBR600 RR) on Friday????? I've had my full bike licence for 2 months and have only sat on a CBR600 a couple of times. I'm starting to think that maybe the CBR wasn't the wisest choice of first bikes..... I'm nervous about negotiating roundabouts in a forward/racing posture. Has anyone else felt the same? Any tips to reassure me would greatly help. Many Thanks

Re: Picking up my CBR600RR Friday!!! its normal to be terrified when picking up a new bike, just take things easy to start with, im sure once you are on the bike that a lot of the nerves will disappear, allow plenty time for the journey and make sure you have waterproofs incase its raining, being cold and wet is the fastest way to lose concentrations and most of all enjoy the ride , and dont forget some pics for the forum and a full report of the ride home ![]() .........................Sam Last edited by druidsam : 09-16-2008 at 08:49 PM.

Re: Picking up my CBR600RR Friday!!! When I got my CBR6F I was working up at Dounreay and bought the bike from Dobles in Surrey. They delivered it for £150 and it didn't arrive until about 11pm. After the guy had left with my PX Hornet I was in the garage sitting on my brand new machine, drooling and longing for morning. I took it out at 6.30 next morning and rode it round some twisties while it was still quiet. My wrists ached, my back ached and I wondered if I had done the right thing. Within a short space of time (a couple of weeks) I adjusted my riding position, got used to the acceleration and braking and enjoyed it for nye on three years before graduating to my Bird when I had to re-adjust. Just go carefully and don't overcook it ![]()

Re: Picking up my CBR600RR Friday!!! I'm sure all will be fine Montana, just take it easy and slowly biuld up the speed and lean angles.. Mind you there has been many a time I have set out with that intention... but somehow within a very short time it's all forgotten ![]()

Re: Picking up my CBR600RR Friday!!! Hey...congrats, it's a great bike, you'll love it! I was in a similar position last month...passed my test a couple of months ago and ordered a CBR600RR Hannspree. I had it delivered as I didn't want to risk picking it up in the rain....but when it arrived it rained for a week solid so it's first few rides were in the rain after all, I just couldn't wait!! The 600RR is a great choice...it's incredibly civilised at low-ish speeds and doesn't really get fun until >7,000 revs...so just keep it under that (which you should do anyway for the first few hundred miles if it's new) and it won't perform much different to the bike you took your test on. I've done over 600 miles on mine in the last couple of weeks, including 240 on Sunday...and I couldn't be happier. Just remember the tyres need 100-150 miles to bed in if they're new... Enjoy!

Re: Picking up my CBR600RR Friday!!! Thanks Lads, I'm feeling better already. She's not new, 2004 with 5K on the clock, electric blue. Its a private sale, hence the pick up. Couldn't afford a new one, just yet. I'm sure I'll get the feel of it in no time at all. Cheers M

Re: Picking up my CBR600RR Friday!!! Mate, it's a class bike - it's like a normal 600 at low revs. However it is lighter and smaller than most 600's so is easier to ride. The power kicks in at the mid to top end. You'll quickly build up confidence as the bike is very forgiving - if your not stupid. I did a year on a CBR125 before stepping up to a 600RR - as long as you take it steady at first you'll be fine. Alot of your weight is transfered to your wrists so they may ache a bit at first, but it is a good ride - you may need to soften the springs on the handlebars. When you get her - post some pics! Dual brakes on the front - ensure you'll have plenty of stopping power!

Honda CBR 600RR and proud!!
