33bhp November. I got a 33brake test november. I am looking at the moment for a decent bigger bike. I did an insurance quote for a Kawasaki zzr 600 and it came back £490 third party fire & theft. (That is if i was to insure it tomorrow, and im not even 18 yet.. :P) It is the bike i always wanted, and i was pretty shocked to see the insurance quote so low, i was expecting it to be more. I want something understated, not in ye face, but powerful and underrated. Something that will not attract the attention of friends or attention of police. I know it is a heavy bike, but the reason i felt this was the right bike to get, is that i heard that a heavy bike is harder to highside, which is something i most fear. My mate highsided in front of me on a yamaha diversion 400 import and i dont want this to happen to me. Would you say, restricted to 33bhp, that this bike is suitable or too heavy? I will de-restrict it when the 2 years after i pass my test is up. Honda CG 125 is an okay-ish bike, but not fast enough for me. I need a real bike for longer journeys and overtaking power on duel carriageways. Rob

Re: 33bhp November. This ZZR600 isn't going to be that fast if it's restricted to 33bhp and it's going to be a bit of a bitch to handle as you won't have the power there to give the bike the handful it needs when you need it. You'll find you run out of steam pretty quick. The bandit 600's are a pretty understated bike, there's plenty of them about so they're not going to attract too much attention and they seem to really take well to being restricted. Why not just stick with the 125, build up a couple of years NCD then go for the 600 you really want without the restrictions when your licence goes from an A1 to a A licence?

If at first you don't succeed buy a snipers rifle, hire a clown suit and climb a clock tower

Re: 33bhp November. the bandit is quite a heavy beast too, how about a fazer 600 i know a couple of guys on them restricted and they both seem happy enough with them on a 30 mile each way commute will be cheap to insure too

Re: 33bhp November. Your mate might have had the right idea with a 400, much lighter and only losing 10 or so HP when restricted. skodaphil had a wicked xjr400. kept up with people he had no right keeping up with. ![]()

Re: 33bhp November. Fair enough. Insurance is only £375 third party and £490 third party F&T for a zzr.. I was expected to pay double that, so i am suprized. Risky if it was *COF* restricted *COF*? Rob

Re: 33bhp November. Is there no-other bike you like? only reason i ask, is that in its day the zzr600 was a bike bike to lurch around on, you not thought about getting something like an early fazer, or bandit, just to learn to ride on, get used to. Turning circles on the both are gonna be a heap load better than the zzr, an will be easier day 2 day to live with....but your choice.

Re: 33bhp November. I like the bandit, but i don't like the fazer. I have seen and been on the back of a fazer and it is defo not a bike i want. I have not been on the back of a bandit, but they don't seem to have much power (BHP wise). I like the bandits style and the bike the bandit with the twin headlights. Rob

Re: 33bhp November. Find a dealer that might be getting one in/ has got one and go have a look at it, an ask the guys there whats its like, think summat like that will prob suit you better than a heavy zzr, learn and get experience on a bigger bike, then you got the choice of getting one later on., a few of us on here got 1,2 or even 3 bikes, so dont think you have to be restricted to 1 bike Rob.
