Stupid question-clearing rain off visors- what do you use?

My gloves seem to just smear the water everywhere and make visibility even worse- is there a tip or is it just a matter of getting used to it/living with it?

If it's covered in flies I don't bother until I really have to, then I stop and do it with a cloth. Nowt worse than out in the dark with a smudged visor in the rain. If it's just rain and visor is clean, I usually turn my head to the left or right so the drops are blown off by the wind. Very rarely will I use my glove for risk of scratching it.

I've used Rain-X, Silicone Polish or carry a packet of those disposable spectacle cleaning cloths (cheap in Aldi or Lidl) and they all seem to work ok. If it's just 'clean' rain, some gloves are equipped with a 'blade' on the thumb whick works pretty well.

i just wipe it away with my glove, its not ideal but works good enough to allow you to see where you are going

I use rain-x as well, clean your visor rub Rain-x on, leave it to dry and then buff it up. It fills all the tiny tiny imperfections in your visor making it smooth. Then when the rain hits it the wind just blows the rain off

work brilliant on the car windscreen as well, blowing the rain straight up and off the screen

Re: Stupid question-clearing rain off visors- what do you use?

Same as Indie, i got a pair of Hein Gericke Blader gloves. They are useful winter gloves and have a sports (ish) look to them. The index finger has a built in mini wiper blade.

It is really really useful. It clears the visor and removes bugs.

...now if i could just sort out the fogging up.....

Honda CBR 600RR and proud!!

Fog city insert.
I got an Arai version free with my new helmet and used it a few weeks ago when I was out at 7am. It worked perfectly and I'd recommend them to anyone.

Re: Stupid question-clearing rain off visors- what do you use?

i borrowed a litre bottle of aircraft canopy water repellant, works really well at 300mph plus! turns out its pretty good at lower speeds too, those and a box of 100 pairs of free earplugs were my better ideas!
