onboard cameras Hi guys i'm new to the forums, i am just looking for some advices on onboard cameras, i want a cheap easy way even if it involves tape and w/e. I have looked at pro onboard cams and there all going into the hundreds from what i can see. Currently i own a 125 CBRr and a JVC Everrio camcorder (you can look them up on net for idea of what they are), i don't mind using another camera and i dont expect HD Quality, just good enough footage for youtube. I dont mind where the camera goes, helmet, bike etc... aslong as it can point forward, and ideas for attaching my current camera or another cheap option with a different and cheapish cam are much welcomed, Cheers.

Re: onboard cameras If you have a search about the forums kayle, there's a couple of threads about this and if my memory serves me right, moto (motorrad1527) gave someone some advice about on board videos. A good place to start looking could be post made by motorrad1527 ![]()

Re: onboard cameras I know of a guy on another forum who uses a bullet cam (ebay, about £15), a mini pvr (ebay Japan, about £40) and a 2 gig micro sd card. He was also advertising the set of leads which he made himself.

you are right unless you want to spend hundreds you are better off buying an sd card camera which will be fine for youtube. The main points are "image quality v storage capacity" the reason i use DV tape is that each tape can hold 20gb of full quality TV sized .avi footage or put another way, 1 hour worth. The cost of sd cards of that size is prohibitive for what i want to do, the last euro trip i took about 100gb of footage for the cost of a couple of quid on tapes that i could (but wont because they contain lots of as yet unused footage) use again. If i bought 8gb cards at about £15-£20 it would cost me about £220 to do the same thing as £5 worth of tapes. hope this helps Moto | |

Re: onboard cameras You would have thought that they would have used a bike with less vibration than a V Twin ![]()

Re: onboard cameras Yeah, I thought that. However the firestorm is a very slim bike for it's cc, and when you see the movie when Trinity's zipping between the oncoming cars, then I dare say they wanted as much space as possible.
