Even Instructors..... For all nervous or novice riders, when they arrive at our office is: Q Tea/Coffee, grab a seat and relax Q. How are you today? A. Not looking forward to taking the test, cause I'll probably fail Q. Compulsory Basic Training is not a test, you can't fail, you might not finnish it today but you cant fail the DSA do not stipulate that CBT has to be completed on the same day (explain various reasons, including they can call a halt to training if they wish) 1/2 2nd Day training is free. Q. Anything else worrying you? A. Scared I might drop the bike or fall of it If you drop the bike, you drop the bike, our Insurance covers damage to bikes, I've dropped mine a few times before and after passing my test. We've all been in the same position as you, we all had to start somewhere, even Instructors make mistakes. TRUE STORY TIME Policeman out on a lesson a few days ago, been out a while, hears the Instructors bike, looks out the window, pupil riding pillion on Instructor bike. Seems he dropped the bike when they stopped for a comfort break. Back at the office Tea & a chat don't worry ect ect. while Instructor retrieves bike. After tea back out on another bike. Instructor is demonstrating an emergency stop, comes to a halt, starts to get off and the bike starts to go over, gets to the point of no return one foot on the pavement and helps the bike go down. No damage done. Helped the learner tremendously as he saw that Instructors sometimes make mistakes. They both had a chat and a laugh about what happened and carried on with the rest of the lesson. The moral of the story is: INSTRUCTORS ARE NOT GODS, even though some like to think they are. (This does not apply to this particular Instructor. No its not me, its my partner. Don't know if it allowed to plug our school, so will wait to be told before I give the web address and you'll see for yourself what our students think) ![]()

Re: Even Instructors..... I managed to drop a Road King once, with a paying punter on the back. She was a farmer's wife and was very nice about it though, no damage done. All the other boys had a good laugh at my expense and I've never been allowed to forget it. It can happen to anyone.

Re: Even Instructors..... won't let him forget 'dropping the bike' that'll be the talking point for the next wee while, the time before that he stalled the bandit pulling away at a ped. crossing, where a bunch of the local 16 - 17 year olds were hanging out. Got it started and took of at mach speed much to the amusement of the young ones, this was pre- instructor days. Some of them have since took their cbt & road training and thats the first thing they mentioned when they walked through the door lol. Reason I mentioned the first incident is that a few students who eventually came to us for training (after going to a training school in their area) was the attitude of some of the instructors (I am GOD syndrome), which set them back a bit. We find that the more relaxed students are, the better their training goes and it makes it more enjoyable for them.
