My options - Confused.

I'm confused as to what my options are to progress onto a higher license. I realise I can't ride anything larger then a 33 BHP bike until I'm 21, but can heard something about a DAS I can take. I can take a DAS on a 125 along with a theory while I'm 18, then once I'm 21 I can ride any bike I like?

Really confused, some sites are saying I can only take a DAS once I'm 21, but others are saying I can take a DAS, then once I've had 2 years bike experience and I'm 21 I'm completeley unresricted? So my question is, what is a DAS, can I take a DAS, what does a DAS give me, if I cannot take a DAS until I'm 21, what are my other options?

I have a provisional and I've taken my CBT. Haven't got a theory yet, is it a special theory for motorcycles or is it the same as a car?

Is not correct!

Is not correct. DAS is for 21 years or older on a bigger bike!

Follow the link that Jim gave you, all of the FACTUAL information is there

I have a provisional and I've taken my CBT. Haven't got a theory yet, is it a special theory for motorcycles or is it the same as a car?

This info you'll find from the link too - it's for bikes!

good luck!

Re: My options - Confused.

short version for 17 y/o riders;
take cbt, pass theory and hazard perception, take test on 125cc bike. you are then restricted to a 33bhp bike for 2 years, so at age 19 you could go and buy a fireblade.

das is only available if your over 21.

although many younger riders tend to prefer to get 'experience' to pass their tests and take can a little while to.
most 17 y/o car drivers will take test after test after test just to get driving??

may the schwartz be with you

Re: My options - Confused.

Ok being new to this myself just had a quick read and in short i am more confused than when i began.

At 19 i can take my cbt which would qualify me to be able to ride anything up to 33 bhp? Would this include any bike as long as it was limited to 33 bhp?

So say i do this, i would then be able to take my theory?

Would i need to take a further practical test to be able to ride without L plates?

Or would i need to wait till i was 21 by which time as i would have been riding two years i would have my full license and be able to ride any size bike i so wished?

Also if i did my cbt i would not be able to use the motorways?

Cheers for any help on this!

no matter what age you are a CBT only allows you to ride a 125cc bike

So say i do this, i would then be able to take my theory?
after doing CBT you can then do the theory

Would i need to take a further practical test to be able to ride without L plates?
yes, a practical test can then be done after training

Or would i need to wait till i was 21 by which time as i would have been riding two years i would have my full license and be able to ride any size bike i so wished?
at 19 you would be restricted to a bike with 33BHP for two years

Also if i did my cbt i would not be able to use the motorways?
cbt riders need to display L plates, so mo motorways

Cheers for any help on this!
