| Re: Passing traffic: What's the protocol? Where abouts are you, it doesn't say under your userid? I have to drive along a dual carrageway to work, about a 6 mile stretch with about 4 set's of pedestrian crossings along it, this morning there was a tailback and we were moving about 2 - 3 miles PH, I watched a biker who was doing just what your asking about. He moved in the middle of the two lanes of traffic and was only going slightly faster than the cars but he was out and away at the end of the bottleneck as he was gone out of my vision |

no disrespects nice, but if your talking with authority you need to back this up with where you got this info from, such as a web link, otherwise peeps could think your just being assertive with your own 'opinions', as I said - no disrespects but opinions are one thing but facts are usually documented somewhere ![]() | |

| Re: Passing traffic: What's the protocol? Road Traffic Act 1991 Road Traffic Act 1991 (c. 40) The Highway Code - Motorcyclists 83 -88 83-88: Rules for motorcyclists : Directgov - Travel and transport 88 Additionally, when filtering in slow-moving traffic, take care and keep your speed low I also found this article :- Urban motorcycling - Safe Filtering and Minimising risk in heavy traffic In addition at traffic lights, passing the lead vehicle introduces the risk of the lights changing to green just as we level with the car, where as joining one or two cars back, represents a significantly lower risk. If we do get to the front of the queue while the lights are still red, we will need to move off promptly to avoid being shunted from behind, once the lights have changed.
