Hi Cpt Quiffington. Best advice is just go for it! If you've never ridden before: There is a chance you may not be the natural stunt rider you hoped you were, but it does all come together.

Good luck with the lessons and keep us all posted.

Zeus.

Hi CQ

The most important thing is to relax and take your time when you first go out. The first few hours on the road are scary when you are trying to watch the traffic, sort the gears out, figure out which brake etc etc.

Also, don't be afraid of the front brake. By practising a few emergency stops you will soon see how much you can squeeze that brake and still control the bike.

On my first few days I also got over-concerned with selecting the right gear and shifting to 4th asap. It stopped me concentrating on other things and enjoying the ride. I soon learnt that it is OK to go round town in 3rd gear - bike engines are supposed to make a bit of noise !

Good luck and enjoy the ride !

Thanks again folks. I am kinda wandering around in the dark and all the advice is really helping. I was talking to a friend here in Dublin and he tells me that I could possibly buy a bike alot cheaper in England. Any sites or places you experts could recomend???
Thanks again for the good wishes.

Itchin to get started!
