Ear Defenders I had ear moulds made and then ear defenders(plugs) made up from the moulds by Ultimate Hearing. They are very good at reducing engine/wind noise to almost zero. Now, I have found two things that require my concentration. I have to frequently check my speed as I don't have a background noise to equate to speed and when starting off from rest, I frequently use too much throttle making for much clutch and throttle adjustment. Has anyone else experienced this and is it just a matter of time before I get used to it?

Re: Ear Defenders i only ever use the cheap foam ear plugs, which cut down on the wind noise but i can still hear the engine ok,one thing i have noticed is that my riding is much smoother when i have the earplugs in,or maybe it just seems that way,i have a diy ear mould kit but as yet have not tried it. .................................Sam

Re: Ear Defenders I bought a big bag of those green foam ones of fleabay a while back. Got about 100 pairs for £6 plus a couple of quid postage. I took a while to get used to them as I previously had a Firestorm with straight though cans fitted. Even the deaf complained about that bike ![]() Cant hear bugger all now I have the Blackbird. Its sounds like I am riding an electric bike ![]()

Re: Ear Defenders I use the cheapy foam ear plugs (pinch them from the fabrication shop at work!). I only use them on long motorway runs. They keep out most the "harsher" sounds. However you do have to get use to them being in. Also need to be much more vigilant i find.

Re: Ear Defenders I've tried earplugs but never got on with ethem. On short runs, it's wasn't worth it, and on long runs they always made my ears hurt, maybe the individually moulded ones are better, but how much do they cost? Also, I was a bit worried when using them that I might miss hearing what's going on around me, a horn for example. Anyone else think that?

Re: Ear Defenders but they are supposed to be designed to cut noise down, not make you deaf,i like them for cutting out wind noise and as my hearing is already on the way out im looking after whats left of it ![]() ..........................Sam
