Re: Newbie plus pillion question.

yep well done Ash
not sure about going 2's up on a lightweight bike, it'll have a far more pronounced effect on handling & braking than it would on a bigger bike - at least I presume so. gonna be overly top heavy IMO - so go carefully if you try it

Re: Newbie plus pillion question.

HI Agila, congrats on passing test. The advice given above is sound - the only thing i can add is:

1) have a system off communication - taps, nudges, etc
2) make sure the wife has the right gear - gloves, helmet, jacket and sensible shoes
3) start slow - and build up speed - fnarr fnarr
4) You won't be able to go fast on a 125 so that shouldn't be a big issue
5) As a 125 is light - the extra top weight will dramatically effect handling so be careful

ENJOY - BOTH OF YOU!!

Honda CBR 600RR and proud!!

Re: Newbie plus pillion question.

If taking pillion on a 125 makes sure you take your license with you. I would eat my helmet if you don't get a tug from the plod within quite a short time as they will want to make sure you have your full license.

Many years ago used to get pulled at least once a week going to work on an rxs 100 two up..

I gather from others things have not changed that much

Re: Newbie plus pillion question.

I did wonder if I would get any attention when I took my L-plates off....

My license is still with the DVLA having the new category put on so I'll wait until it's back.

good idea!! make sure you check it when you get it back too as some times they 'forget' to add the bike bit

Re: Newbie plus pillion question.

Just ridden the 125 2-up... It went pretty well after I got over how much the back end dipped (even though the mrs is light) and the fact that my stopping distance seemed to double. Only a short ride to the swimming pool and back, not even sure if I got out of 3rd gear so it wasn't that much slower. than normal. I'm sure if I'd tried to accelerate through 4th and 5th that I'd have been disappointed (I mean more disappointed than normal).

Good fun but I wouldn't want to go further than a couple of miles!

Ash.
