| Re: Hello from Oxfordshire Thanks all. A quick question, Scudnut - is that L-plate stuck to the front mudguard in your avatar? I've been wondering where to put the plates (don't like them sticking out on the side) and was thinking about sticking a plate to the mudguard, but was worried about marking when I (hopefully) remove it one day! | Re: Hello from Oxfordshire Hi mate dont worry about marking the fenders with L plates, I had mine stuck on the front and back of my Marauder, the day i passed my test i came home and took them off (That was the best feeling in the world... Free at last) It took just a quick spray with some furniture polish to remove any wee bits of the sticky backing and they looked brand new....Oh by the way the next day i sold the bike, and do you know what? the buyer promptly stuck 2 new L plates on exactly where i had them. | Re: Hello from Oxfordshire Or....and I offer this as the genuine answer - a combination of lots of riding combined with leaving my laptop at work! Good morning to all, and a very happy Monday to you. CBT was great fun, and absolutely flew by - despite my initial nerves before starting (especially when it transpired that I was the only person there who was doing CBT on a geared bike), I found that just as I'd hoped, it quickly clicked back into place. So they rattled me through the first two stages pretty quickly - really they just assumed and accepted that I knew which way round a helmet went, which was fine by me - and swifly had me doing figure-8's, walking-speed circles and u-turns...and having started the whole thing at 9, by 1015 they had me out on the road with an instructor and a rider who was doing a refresher on a 500. Home by 1245, certificate in hand and with some really good experience of both twisties and the local main dual-carriageway, I dashed down to the dealership, where the Marauder was waiting, prepped and ready to go! Put 100 miles on it on Saturday afternoon, didn't ride yesterday as I had other things to do, but came to work this morning, and I still haven't lost the GRIN! Thanks so much for everyone's wishes....I'll post some pics soon, the plan now is 6 months experience, then the full test and something like a GS500F, I think! Neil |
