Re: Pants !!!!!! I wouldn't agree with that Grotbag. If it takes someone more than 3 attempts I don't think they should be on the road. Sorry, but the test isn't that hard, (even these days), and I just think that if you fail once you can put it down to nerves, fail a 2nd time that could be put down to "Oh I did this and that wrong and the person taking the test gets a bit complacent about the other aspects. The 3rd time being a pass would suggest the person has knuckled down and taken the test without the nerves of the 1st time and without the complacency of the 2nd time. These people that spend thousands on lessons and taking umpteen tests really do worry me because if they have 4, 5, 6 or more failures behind them then they're not really cut out to be driving or riding. I do think the driving test, be it for a car, bike, HVG, PSV, etc should be limited to a certain number of attempts.

Re: Pants !!!!!! i partly agree with andy, i also feel that to achieve the right to have a licence to ride/drive any vehicle, you should have to complete a set amount of time driving/riding in daytime and nightime and in most average driving conditions. i also think that new learner drivers should have to learn to drive away from the public roads instead of driving about the estate that i live on

Re: Pants !!!!!! If you read the two post's previous to mine Andy, I think you'll find that 1st and 2nd time passes was being disputed / discussed to which I responded, not "umpteen tests" as in your post. You appear to have taken my response out of context of the conversation. Everyone's entitled to air their opinion Andy and always providing they don't attempt to shout down some one else then that fine. After all, we wouldn't like to see someone feel that they can't post their views for fear of being shot down in flames by another member, this is not one of 'those' types of forums. ![]() I agree with you to the point of the number of attempts being limited but other than that, we'll just have to agree to disagree! ![]()

It seems stupid that someone can turn 17, take a test within a couple of months, drive in the spring/summer months and have no training at all on how to deal with hazard conditions such as wind, rain, snow and ice as well as night time driving/riding. And what about motorway experience?? In my job I drive about 25,000 miles a year, I've got over 23 years driving experience under my belt but I still hate motorway driving/riding and do all I can to avoid it if at all possible. | |

Re: Pants !!!!!! The best riders haven't passed yet because they are waiting for the harder longer more expensive test. ![]() Car test 1st time. Bus (auto) 2nd time (whoops, who put that cone there )Bus (man) 1st time. I don't care how many times it takes me to pass my bike test as long as I've passed before Manky Cat. ![]() Good luck for next time Sandra.
