add yourself to the members map

click on user cp (top left of page) then click on 'edit profile' - add/delete as you like

That is because it is not advertised.

It would be nice when people join that they get an email or a response here saying, welcome, add your six penneth to these threads if you wish and lead new users to the threads.

I did not know about this thread until someone else pointed it out.

That's why there is a 'new members' forum gasman and this thread is stickied at the top http://www.bikerforum.co.uk/forums/n...ay-around.html

It's all advertised gasman if you click on 'forums' next to 'home' it brings up the 20 different forums in the site, when there's new post's in each one the motorbike icon has the words 'new post's' running through it.

If you only ever click on 'today's post's' then that's all that pulled up - the post made within that 24 hour period.

Any on-going or threads that we don't want to get burried are 'stickied' to the top of each forum so they are the first one's you see like this one is in the new members forum.

The problem is, most new people just don't bother to look around the place before they start posting

And I fall into that category. I really only come into Bike Chat and New Bikers, re the bike category. Found the general one a little way back, but those two are my most visited.

If it could be stuck under their noses, like Hi, please add your location here and your occupation here so we know a little more about you and where you live.?

Most people fit into that catagory gasman, myself included! I never knew there was a sales and wants section until a few months ago

We'd be forever writing e-mails if we mailed each new member (about 20 a day sign up) and we have to read each post - all time consuming - but I'll look into opening another thread for 'new members please read before posting in the forum', how's that sound?
